Crystals and Gemstones have been used in healing for thousands of years. Quartz crystal is composed of silicon and water, which is also a major component of our own human body. A third of the Earth is composed of quartz crystal, which is why our bodies respond so well to its vibrational frequencies.

For thousands of years crystals and gemstones have been used for healing dis-ease. They were used by shamans in healing ceremonies, by travellers for protection, and by merchants to encourage prosperity and wealth. The Atlantians used crystals not only for healing purposes but also for teaching and interstellar communication. In recent centuries they were mostly worn to protect one from negative forces or to bring good fortune, but because of their rarity and expense, wearing such precious stones was reserved mainly for Royalty and the upper classes.

Long before drugs were administered to combat dis-ease, doctors would prescribe gemstones to ingest. They would be ground up and mixed with a liquid for the patient to drink. Similarly today, gemstones are used in elixirs, although it is only the vibration of the gemstone that is ingested and not the whole stone!

As more and more crystals and precious stones are uncovered, it becomes more apparent how much these wonderful crystal beings dominate the Earth. The Earth is made of minerals which are nearly all made of crystals. Mountains consist of crystalline particles, as do the ocean floors. Most coastlines around the world have sandy beaches which consist of tiny granules of silicon dioxide - quartz crystal. Their golden orange colour is due to iron impurities. Large crystals coated with iron are known as ‘Golden Healers’. Perhaps this is why we flock to the beaches to relax and unwind, unknowingly taking advantage of the healing and energising properties of quartz.

Quartz is all around us in its common, unnoticeable form, but when it is found in large intact crystals, the beauty and peace we feel can be overwhelming. Quartz crystal is as clear as ice, but holds a fascinating beauty for many people.

Wearing crystals, or laying crystals upon our bodies can rebalance our energies and clear energy blockages, allowing life force energy, or ‘Chi’, to flow freely around the body. Crystals and gemstones are placed on the body at specific points from head to toe, mostly around the main chakras or energy centres. When coloured gemstones are used they are placed to match the colour of the chakra, which enhances the energies of each individual chakra, cleansing and vitalising each centre. Each gemstone has a specific healing property, and are used accordingly, although most stones are chosen intuitively, depending on the needs of each individual. While the aura and the chakras are realigning to the crystal energies, additional healing energy such as Reiki or Sound Therapy can be given to enhance the healing session.

Crystal therapy is a very intense therapy, and the realignment of ones energies may continue for several days beyond the initial treatment.
